Like Demon Bean said, people will leave if they want to, punishment or not and I'm not going to stay in a game when I know the town can't win but the game logistics determines that because there's 1 townie left with 2 maf, 1 NK and 1 Neutral that the town *still* has a chance to win. In that situation, town has 0% chance to win, unless there's a Vet with 1 alert left and all the mafia and NK roles decide to visit him that night. Dead townies often figure out who is who before the living town does but, because there's no med we get to sit there and watch as the maf and neutrals outvote the townies and the last few town memebers are scratching their heads like idiots wondering why they're getting voted up. Players can calculate better than the game when the town has gone tits up and they have a 0% chance of winning the night or even 2 nights before the game is over. I honestly don't care about win / loss ratio or Elo rank or what have you and I'm not an achievement ♥♥♥♥♥ so I could care a rat-tail's less about winning X rounds with Y role. A dead mafia can't help the living mafia and dead townies can't communicate with living townies without a Medium or ret. Yeah, a dead mafia or townies with no ret or Medium really have no incentive to stay behind.
